San Jose Earthquake Registers as a Magnitude 5.6

A California earthquake registering as a magnitude 5.6 rattled San Jose late Tuesday evening causing buildings to rattle and residents to run for shelter.

The San Jose earthquake didn’t cause any major damage but had emergency crews on alert. The relatively minor quake was felt across the San Francisco Bay Area.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake occurred on the Calaveras Fault, located east of the San Andreas Fault.
